Pine & Burgundy Bookcase

A bespoke bookcase designed to size and compliment the decor of the room. Using solid pine boards, plywood and a burgundy laminate, this bookcase is finished in a mixture of beeswax and carnauba providing a durable and easy to maintain surface finish. As always, the design was completed using our CAD software and rendered in several finish styles before construction began. This procedure provides the client with the ability to view any combination of colours and materials before making the final decision to commence construction of the project.

The following show the bookcase during pre-assembly.

Arts & Crafts Ash Kitchen

A bespoke Arts and Crafts styled kitchen stand manufactured in Ash with a 2.5 metre by 500mm by 25mm Welsh slate inset. The upstand and side stands are integral to the breadboard moulding that encapsulates the Welsh slate. The fixings are hidden behind the square teak pegs, often seen with Arts and Crafts styled furniture.

In addition to the Arts & Crafts kitchen unit above, the bead & butt painted panelling, cupboard interior, cupboard doors and the painted brace & ledge door were individually made from re-claimed ‘Hard Pine’. The Mantle was also made from the same timber.

Pine Bedroom

Some instances require reclaimed flooring, this is generally hard or pitch pine reclaimed from demolition, and can be difficult to locate. An alternative is reclaimed joists which are then sawn and machined to provide the required thickness and surface finish. This ‘Pine Bedroom’ shows reclaimed pine joists that have been sawn, machined and finished using several coats of  hard wearing satin floor varnish. To maintain authenticity the boards remain square edged and have not been converted to T&G.

Pine Floorboards.

Using similar methods, the architrave, skirting board and window board were made and installed to match the pine floor boards. All exposed pine was thoroughly sanded, sealed and several coats of varnish (with UV filters) were applied. In ths instance the architrave, skirting and window board were machined to have square edges, almost any edge design can be catered for by our machinery, or even sometimes by vintage hand planes. We use these planes on occasion when we are matching ‘old’ mouldings, dado rails, picture rails and beading for example. The alternative is sometimes to grind special cutters for our machines depending on the quantity of the moulding that is required.
